Ensamble Folclórico Colibrí (EFC) Is a Mexican folklore dance group. Under the artistic directorship of Arturo Magaña, EFC has the mission to promote the pride of identifying as an LGBTQ+ Latinx through the art of Mexican Folklórico dance. Our mission also seeks to preserve our costumes and traditions through cultural and educational projects as well as staged performances.
EFC was created on November 2015. It was Magaña‘s vision to create a unique folklorico group where the LGBTQ+ Community would have creative platform to express and validate our sexual and cultural identity.
EFC is open to everyone at any dancistic level. Our Artistic policy requires a minimum of three weekly rehearsals. We currently meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-9pm and Sundays 11am-2pm. Due to Covid-19, all rehearsals are conducted via ZOOM Meetings.
Our LGBTQ+ Folklorico academy offers Mexican Folklore education for all ages. Currently and due to social distancing requirements we are only offering free online community classes every Wednesday. To participate, visit and LIKE our academy's facebook page:
