Academia Folclórico Colibrí's goal is to prepare and educate student dancers who want to explore the discipline of Mexican folklorico dance with an LGBTQ+ focus.
The academia’s curriculum offers cultural education with an inclusive and gender neutral approach, providing students with a platform to learn, explore and validate their identity through the beauty of Mexican Folklorico Dance.
Our curriculum also offers proper body preparation (conditioning), folklorico technique at various levels, and instruction of dances from various states and regions of Mexico.
Academia Folclórico Colibrí opened its doors in May of 2021 offering 10-week sessions throughout the year. Our classes are designed for all ages, gender identities and skill levels. In the Academia, students are encouraged to be their authentic selves by exploring the folklorico discipline in their authentic gender and identity.
After each ten week session, the Academia hosts a recital where the students present the material learned and receive their completion certificate.

We proudly provide folklorico classes, performances, lectures, demonstration and panel discussions. When we work with nonprofit organizations, we can accommodate our rates to fit the budget. Although we are a nonprofit ourselves and the revenue we earn for our performances helps cover studio and costume expenses, it is important for us to give back to our community.

Your generous donations help us preserve cultural heritage through music and dance. Join us in making a difference in our community and empowering future generations. Every contribution counts and brings us closer to our goals.
